Most systems weren’t designed to fail. They were designed for a world that no longer exists — then left running while the people inside them adapted, or didn’t. The gaps are predictable. The failures are readable. The solutions already exist in the space between what is and what should be.

The Connection

The problem is never the problem.

The problem is always the distance between where a person is and the system that was supposed to serve them. A veteran who can’t navigate a claims process designed against him. A student whose skills have no language the workforce recognizes. A woman whose symptoms have no name in the systems meant to help her.
